GEOTUB formwork helps make quick work of 600 concrete columns for Hawkins Construction on the Britomart Carpark
The GEOTUB modular system comes in a range of sizes all interchangeable meaning B & W now have both 400mm and 600mm columns as well as the ability to make 600mm x 400mm columns.
By the end of the contract each column box would have formed 30 columns and be easily stored back at the yard ready for more contracts.

GEOTUB Leads The Way Again
B&W's Wayne Beattie knows he made the right decision when he purchased 20 x 600mm x 400mm square Geotub columns.
Wayne had the contract to form 600 concrete columns for Hawkins Construction on the Britomart Carpark in down town Auckland.
The 6 storey car park was to be constructed using a post tensioned floor system from Rapid Metal Developments. The system allows for a thinner floor slab but requires extensive use of a crane to move the floor forming tables around the site.
Wayne needed to come up with an alternative forming system that wouldn't require the crane time. He found it in Geotub, a light-weight modular concrete forming system exclusively available from Everitts.
The modular system comes in a range of sizes all interchangeable meaning B & W now have both 400mm and 600mm columns as well as the ability to make 600mm x 400mm columns.
Following each slab pour Wayne's team, under the experienced site supervision of Pou Toia, would arrive at 7am and by 3pm they had erected, plumbed and were pouring 20 columns. All without the need for any crane.
Lunchtime on the following day the team were stripping, cleaning, and stacking the Geotub to wait for the next zone's floor to be ready.
By the end of the contract each column box would have formed 30 columns and be easily stored back at the yard ready for more contracts.
"The Geotub columns have saved us close to 2000 crane lifts over the course of the job" says Wayne.
